ABSTRACT

The fast growth of information technology and the strength of some electronics being produced to fastened and support this new development has made a lot of firm and institutions to go digital and online. Hence this bring about this research work which is a study to design and implement an Electronic Library which will go a long way in solving difficulties and challenges faced by the present system which is the traditional library. This work explores the ability of a viable web based Library System that provides services in the form of an electronic platform to encourage users and also improve their interests in the source of information’s in the library. The major advantage of the system is that it bridges the distance barriers which are a major challenge to the present system and it also provides a relational large storage capacity for the storage of necessary information’s. The methodology adopted for this work was Object Oriented Hypermedia and Design Methodology (OOHDM). The system was implemented using Php as the backend programming language and Html and Css as the frontend programming languages. MySQL was also used to manage the database of the system. The result of this system is an Electronic Library that allows users to gain access to its resources in which the can search, review and borrow some of the library resources.
